If you will be transporting a bulldozer to a construction site on a semi-trailer truck, you may want to bear the following advice in mind:

Make sure the bulldozer is positioned in the centre of the trailer

When positioning the bulldozer on the semi trailer, it's important to make sure that it is parked in the centre of the trailer base.

There are a couple of reasons why it needs to be in this position. The first is that if the bulldozer is positioned too close to either side of the trailer, rather than in the centre, there is a much greater risk that it will affect the truck's balance during the road journey.

For example, if the bulldozer is positioned very close to the edge of the trailer's left side and the truck needs to make a sharp left turn, the weight of the bulldozer on this side could cause the truck to flip over. This could lead to the truck driver being badly injured and both the truck and the bulldozer being damaged.

If the bulldozer is positioned close to one side of the trailer, a section of it may slip over the edge during the road journey. This could affect the truck driver's ability to see behind them in their wing mirror on that side, as the protruding bulldozer would obstruct their view.

Given this, it is important to ensure that the bulldozer is positioned in the middle of the trailer, and is secured tightly to the base so that it doesn't veer off to one side while it is being taken to the construction site.

Make sure the bulldozer's blade is facing forward before securing the equipment to the trailer

The blades of most bulldozers can be tilted in a variety of directions. Before parking the bulldozer on the trailer, it's a good idea to switch the equipment on so that you can adjust the blade's position so that it is facing forward.

This is important for the following reason: if the blade is tilted to the right or the left and is extending beyond the edge of the trailer's base, the sharp edges of this blade could scrape against (and subsequently damage) any vehicles that the truck driver passes by during the road journey.

If this happens, the delivery of the bulldozer to the site may end up taking a lot longer than expected, as the driver of the truck would have to deal with the aftermath of this vehicle damage before continuing with their journey.
